Deciding on studying abroad comes with its own set of responsibilities and worries. 1. Pack light

Keep the duration of your visit in mind and pack accordingly. If you are a hoarder, then make a list of all the things you need to keep yourself in check. Ideally, carry a suitcase, a backpack, and a sling/ purse/ any kind of handbag only. There is no point in you paying extra at the airport because of this carry-on drama. Remember, you are simply going to another country and not other planet! You will find items that you missed on your list later.

2. Don’t hoard on toiletries and other essentials

Just like your clothes, don’t overpack your toiletries, cosmetics, lotions, etc. If something is absolutely necessary and you are sure you won’t find it abroad, only then carry extra to last the whole trip. You also have the option of buying a new sim card once you reach your destination or resorting to applications like WhatsApp when you have free wi-fi around. Communication might not be that big of an issue but keeping a plan is mind is always sensible. Or else you might have to run around looking for the nearest McDonalds or Starbucks.

5. Carry appropriate footwear

Keeping the country you are visiting in mind, carry appropriate footwear. If you are going to Europe, I would suggest you to carry comfortable shoes and chuck those high heels. Finally, respect the locals and their culture. Being culturally sensitive is an important trait to imbibe when in another country. Don’t badmouth their lifestyles or social habits. Be respectful towards to locations you are visiting and follow their rules.
