A Resume is probably the holy grail for any young adult and working professional. It is the lifeline on which your professional career rests, the sole piece of paper which might be responsible for getting you your next glittering opportunity. It offers the world a glimpse into your entire life, your accomplishments, your knowledge base, and your skill-set. Thus, it is no secret that your resume or CV (curriculum vitae) needs to be as comprehensively detailed, compelling, and rife with factual information as possible. It needs to be completely self-sufficient in itself to be able to tell a complete stranger the important milestones of your life.

Let us delve into how you can make your resume as exceptional as possible:

Organize
The first thing to do while writing your resume is to organise it in the clearest and seamless manner, and preferably in a linear trajectory as well. List everything you have done, academic qualifications to professional experience, in a linear manner, starting from the earliest things to the latest.

Quantify
Always remember to quantify your achievements in a precise manner, instead of just stating random facts while building your resume. For instance, while penning down your internship experience, quantify it with the amount of time you worked for, the contribution you made to the company, etc.

Describe
While listing down your achievements in your CV, make sure you add a succinct, yet detailed description that encapsulates your role and contribution in the company. This helps in giving the person reviewing your resume an idea of your knowledge-base and skill-set and your implementation of them.

Be Succinct
A resume is supposed to be a professional document, so keep in mind that you aren’t supposed to concoct an entire sprawling narrative. Rely on brevity and write as concisely as you can.

Be Authentic
Although there is always an element of humor in how true one’s resume actually is, please be as authentic as you can. Authenticity on your resume showcases the professionalism, integrity, and depth of character of the person reading it.

Have Clear Formatting
The last pointer to remember, although very basic, is to have a clear structure and formatting. If you are bolding one sub-heading, ensure that you bold each; if you are spacing each sub-headings, description as a separate paragraph, ensure that you do that for each.

In addition to these aspects, make sure you go through the basic aspects such as grammar, vocabulary, punctuation, etc. as it must strike the reader as a sophisticated and professional document.
