These‌ ‌are‌ ‌the‌ ‌times‌ ‌that‌ ‌no‌ ‌one‌ ‌could‌ ‌have‌ ‌thought‌ ‌of‌ ‌but‌ ‌it‌ ‌is‌ ‌what‌ ‌it‌ ‌is.‌ ‌I‌ ‌am‌ ‌Nikita‌ ‌Singh‌ ‌and‌ ‌I‌ ‌ am‌ ‌a‌ ‌student‌ ‌of‌ ‌MBA‌ ‌2‌nd‌ ‌‌year‌ ‌and‌ ‌this‌ ‌lockdown‌ ‌started‌ ‌on‌ ‌a‌ ‌very‌ ‌rough‌ ‌note‌ ‌for‌ ‌me‌ ‌as‌ ‌my‌ ‌ exams‌ ‌got‌ ‌postponed‌ ‌and‌ ‌in‌ ‌the‌ ‌middle‌ ‌of‌ ‌my‌ ‌exams‌ ‌we‌ ‌were‌ ‌told‌ ‌to‌ ‌pack‌ ‌our‌ ‌bags‌ ‌and‌ ‌go‌ ‌home.‌ ‌Earlier‌ ‌I‌ ‌was‌ ‌optimistic‌ ‌about‌ ‌this‌ ‌pandemic‌ ‌so‌ ‌I‌ ‌decided‌ ‌to‌ ‌not‌ ‌go‌ ‌to‌ ‌my‌ ‌hometown‌ ‌and‌ ‌ rather‌ ‌stay‌
back‌ ‌at‌ ‌my‌ ‌cousin’s‌ ‌place‌ ‌so‌ ‌that‌ ‌when‌ ‌my‌ ‌college‌ ‌reopens‌ ‌in‌ ‌1‌ ‌week‌ ‌or‌ ‌so‌ ‌I’ll‌ ‌immediately‌ ‌join‌ ‌back.‌ ‌But‌ ‌this‌ ‌never‌ ‌happened‌ ‌as‌ ‌the‌ ‌number‌ ‌of‌ ‌infected‌ ‌people‌ ‌grew‌ ‌drastically‌ ‌in‌ ‌India‌ ‌and‌ ‌now‌
it‌ ‌was‌ ‌announced‌ ‌that‌ ‌everything‌ ‌will‌ ‌be‌ ‌work‌ ‌from‌ ‌home‌ ‌and‌ ‌no‌ one‌ ‌will‌ ‌travel.‌ ‌I‌ ‌had‌ ‌to‌ ‌do‌ ‌internship‌ ‌in‌ ‌the‌ ‌month‌ ‌of‌ ‌April‌ ‌and‌ ‌May‌ ‌as‌ ‌a‌ ‌part‌ ‌of‌ ‌my‌ ‌curriculum‌ ‌ but‌ ‌thanks‌ ‌to‌ ‌corona‌ ‌this‌ ‌was‌ ‌also‌ ‌cancelled‌ ‌by‌ ‌the‌ ‌company‌ ‌in‌ ‌which‌ ‌I‌ ‌was‌ ‌selected.‌ ‌Wait‌ ‌it‌ ‌is‌ ‌ going‌ ‌to‌ ‌be‌ ‌worse.‌ ‌Cut‌ ‌to‌ ‌26‌th‌ ‌‌of‌ ‌March‌ ‌my‌ ‌elder‌ ‌brother‌ ‌who‌ ‌used‌ ‌to‌ ‌work‌ ‌in‌ ‌a‌ ‌different‌ ‌country‌ ‌met‌ ‌with‌ ‌a‌ ‌road‌ ‌accident‌ ‌and‌ ‌it‌ ‌was‌ ‌pretty‌ ‌bad.‌ ‌We‌ ‌got‌ ‌a‌ ‌call‌ ‌from‌ ‌his‌ ‌friend‌ ‌and‌ ‌everything‌ ‌was‌ shattered‌ ‌for‌ ‌me‌ ‌and‌ ‌my‌ ‌family.‌ ‌I‌ ‌started‌ ‌connecting‌ ‌with‌ ‌the‌ ‌doctors‌ ‌on‌ ‌LinkedIn‌ ‌and‌ ‌the‌ ‌first‌ thing‌ ‌which‌ ‌I‌ ‌got‌ ‌to‌ ‌hear‌ ‌was‌ ‌that‌ ‌in‌ ‌order‌ ‌to‌ ‌save‌ ‌his‌ ‌life‌ ‌his‌ ‌left‌ ‌leg‌ ‌was‌ ‌to‌ ‌be‌ ‌amputed‌ ‌and‌ ‌the‌ ‌decision‌ ‌was‌ ‌left‌ ‌on‌ ‌me‌ ‌as‌ ‌I‌ ‌was‌ ‌the‌ ‌immediate‌ ‌contact‌ ‌from‌ ‌the‌ ‌side‌ ‌of‌ ‌the‌ ‌doctors,‌ ‌it‌ ‌took‌ ‌a‌ ‌moment‌ ‌but‌ ‌I‌ ‌told‌ ‌them‌ ‌to‌ ‌do‌ ‌the‌ ‌needful.‌ ‌5‌ ‌days‌ ‌passed‌ ‌and‌ ‌he‌ ‌started‌ ‌recovering‌ ‌but‌ ‌then‌ ‌suddenly‌ ‌one‌ ‌day‌ ‌he‌ ‌got‌ ‌a‌ ‌heart‌ ‌attack‌ ‌and‌ ‌expired‌ ‌in‌ ‌the‌ ‌hospital.‌ ‌Then‌ ‌there‌ ‌was‌ ‌a‌ ‌whole‌ ‌thing‌ ‌about‌ ‌how‌ ‌his‌ ‌body‌ ‌will‌ ‌come‌ ‌to‌ ‌India‌ ‌as‌ ‌all‌ ‌flights‌ ‌were‌ ‌grounded.‌ ‌But‌ ‌thanks‌ ‌to‌ ‌the‌ ‌employees‌ ‌of‌ ‌my‌ ‌brother’s‌ ‌company‌ ‌his‌ ‌body‌ ‌was‌ ‌sent‌ ‌to‌ ‌India‌ ‌on‌ ‌22‌nd‌ ‌‌of‌ ‌April‌ ‌and‌ ‌this‌ ‌was‌ ‌the‌ ‌day‌ ‌on‌ ‌which‌ ‌I‌ ‌was‌ ‌born‌ ‌so‌ ‌it‌ ‌was‌ ‌more‌ ‌worse.‌ ‌I‌ ‌had‌ ‌to‌ ‌collect‌ ‌my‌ ‌brother’s‌ ‌body‌ ‌from‌ ‌the‌ airport‌ ‌because‌ ‌his‌ ‌body‌ ‌came‌ ‌to‌ ‌the‌ ‌same‌ ‌city‌ ‌in‌ ‌which‌ ‌I‌ ‌was‌ ‌staying‌ ‌with‌ ‌my‌ ‌cousin‌ ‌and‌ ‌I‌ ‌collected‌ ‌everything‌ ‌from‌ ‌the‌ ‌airport‌ ‌,‌ ‌sat‌ in‌ ‌the‌ ‌ambulance‌ ‌and‌ ‌off‌ ‌I‌ ‌went‌ ‌to‌ ‌my‌ ‌hometown.‌ ‌It‌ took‌ ‌me‌ ‌24‌ ‌hours‌ ‌to‌ ‌reach‌ ‌my‌ ‌hometown‌ ‌and‌ ‌this‌ ‌was‌ ‌all‌ ‌the‌ ‌sad‌ ‌part‌ ‌of‌ ‌my‌ ‌lockdown.‌

Now‌ ‌comes‌ ‌the‌ ‌good‌ ‌part.‌ ‌Remember,‌ ‌I‌ ‌had‌ ‌told‌ ‌that‌ ‌my‌ ‌internship‌ ‌was‌ ‌cancelled‌ ‌but‌ ‌now‌ guess‌ ‌what,‌ ‌in‌ ‌the‌ ‌month‌ ‌of‌ ‌April‌ ‌I‌ ‌do‌ ‌not‌ ‌have‌ ‌one‌ ‌not‌ ‌two‌ ‌but‌ ‌three‌ ‌internships‌ ‌in‌ ‌my‌ ‌hand‌ ‌ and‌ ‌all‌ ‌three‌ ‌of‌ ‌them‌ ‌were‌ ‌very‌ ‌interesting.‌ ‌I‌ ‌selected‌ ‌two‌ ‌internships‌ ‌out‌ ‌of‌ ‌these‌ ‌three‌ ‌and‌ ‌completed‌ ‌the‌ ‌same.‌ ‌I‌ ‌was‌ ‌also‌ ‌considered‌ ‌for‌ ‌the‌ ‌pre-placement‌ ‌opportunity‌ ‌but‌ ‌since‌ ‌I‌ ‌had‌ ‌a‌ ‌lot‌ ‌in‌ ‌my‌ ‌plate‌ ‌that‌ ‌time,‌ ‌I‌ ‌had‌ ‌to‌ ‌let‌ ‌it‌ ‌go.‌ ‌My‌ ‌classes‌ ‌also‌ ‌started‌ ‌virtually,‌ ‌and‌ ‌I‌ ‌started‌ ‌being‌ busy‌ ‌which‌ ‌I‌ ‌needed‌ ‌the‌ ‌most.‌ ‌Now‌ ‌everybody‌ ‌is‌ ‌fine‌ ‌in‌ ‌my‌ ‌family‌ ‌or‌ ‌they‌ ‌pretend‌ ‌to‌ ‌be,‌ ‌we‌ ‌miss‌ ‌him‌ ‌the‌ ‌most‌ ‌as‌ ‌he‌ ‌was‌ ‌the‌ ‌most‌ ‌wonderful‌ ‌human‌ ‌being‌ ‌I‌ ‌had‌ ‌in‌ ‌my‌ ‌life.‌ ‌Now‌ ‌I‌ ‌am‌ ‌preparing‌ ‌for‌ ‌my‌ ‌placements‌ ‌so‌ ‌that‌ ‌I‌ ‌give‌ ‌the‌ ‌same‌ ‌amount‌ ‌of‌ ‌stability‌ ‌to‌ ‌my‌ ‌family‌ ‌that‌ ‌my‌ ‌brother‌ ‌used‌ ‌to‌ ‌give.‌ ‌I‌ ‌have‌ ‌enrolled‌ ‌for‌ ‌new‌ ‌projects,‌ ‌new‌ ‌courses‌ ‌everything‌ ‌is‌ ‌at‌ ‌a‌ ‌better‌ ‌stage.‌ ‌ ‌
This‌ ‌lockdown‌ ‌has‌ ‌taught‌ ‌me‌ ‌a‌ ‌lot‌ ‌and‌ ‌most‌ ‌importantly‌ ‌it‌ ‌taught‌ ‌me‌ ‌to‌ ‌be‌ ‌independent‌ ‌and‌ ‌to‌ ‌detach‌ ‌from‌ ‌certain‌ ‌things‌ ‌for‌ ‌good.‌
